VH1 shared an exclusive look of the behind the scene footage of Pop Diva Christina Aguilera’s new video “You Lost Me” which is the second single from her album “Bionic”. The video is being directed by the go to man of today’s music videos Anthony Mandler. Check out VH1 sneak peak
My Two Cents:You lost Me is already a great track and with Mandler directing it I have no doubt the video will be great too. Here’s hoping this is the fuel that will gets the “Bionic” fire burning again because it’s getting dimmer as the days go by…..
Pop Star Lady Gaga made her way to NYC to perform at the Today Show Summer Concert Series. Dressed in all that is Gaga she seemed to tone it down with her wardrobe today. Still weird but nothing crazy. Anyway check out her amazing performance of songs from her album “The Fame Monster” which include “Bad Romance”, “Alejandro”, “Teeth”, and her new song “You & I”
Singer/Dancer Ciara is ready to serve up her second single with the fast paced Tricky Stewart & Soundz Produced track “Gimme Dat” off of her 4th studio album “Basic Instinct” due out August 17th. Check it out here
My Two Cents:This song is definitely the crazy dance track that Ms. Harris promised. I can really see it getting a lot of play in the clubs and urban radio. For me still a bit of a grower but I am amped about this new project and I really do want to hear more. With her single “Ride” cracking the top 10 of the R&B charts it will be interesting to see how this song fairs.
While the sales of Christina Aguilera’s latest album “Bionic” are on life support Billboard has name it the Best Mainstream Pop Album of The Year thus far. Billboard had this to say when writing their review for Bionic:
NEW YORK (Billboard) – We may have love affairs with all kinds of gimmicky divas, but it takes Christina Aguilera to remind us that singing really matters.
That’s not to say the pop star’s latest release, “Bionic,” is all about her voice, a muscular acrobat that’s become more elegant with age. Combine it with the inventive work of a diverse cast of producers and you’ve got the best mainstream pop album of the year thus far. Sure, “Bionic” was made for a post-Lady Gaga world, where the comparisons are inevitable and the sales stakes are high. But from the fidgety intro of the dub-tastic opening title track (produced by Santigold collaborators John Hill & Switch) to punk-brat driving song “My Girls” (produced by Le Tigre, with a guest rap from Peaches) to Aguilera’s gloriously restrained delivery on “All I Need” (Sia Furler co-produced the vocals), the 18-song set shows an artist confident enough to take direct cues from her tuned-in creative team. Because she’s bold enough to do it her way, Aguilera maintains her reign.
My Two Cents: I have to agree with Billboard on this. While the year is only halfway done Christina definitely served up a hot one with Bionic and from myreview you can that I found it to be a really great piece of work. You can’t deny this woman’s talent as one of the most amazing voices in today’s music industry and it’s very noticeable on her recent live performances especially on her second single ballad “You Lost Me”. Again I think the setback came when that whole “Lady Gaga” comparison went into fruition. Here’s hoping “You Lost Me” can be her “Beautiful” and save “Bionic” some face and give it it’s credit that it deserves.
Iconic singer Prince spoke to a European newspaper on how he feels about the internet was he was pretty blunt about it. Check out what the “Purple Rain” singer had to say:
“The Internet is completely over,” Prince told the Daily Mirror. “I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.”
He also had this to say when comparing the internet to music channel MTV
The Internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated.”
My Two Cents:Prince is never one to shy away from telling how he feels and he has spoken. Why I myself don’t think the internet is going anywhere anytime soon that statement about MTV has become somewhat true. Looking through MTV’s television lineup we see nothing but reality show after reality show and no music programs what so ever. MTV cancelled their popular music video countdown TRL back in 2008 and since then nothing has come along to take it’s place. With endless access to artist and their music through the internet from websites such as Youtube and Vevo maybe MTV got the hint they really aren’t needed anymore. What do you think?
Just in case you missed it Jennifer Lopez‘s Behind The Music aired this past weekend and while it was a very interesting watch she had a couple of good quotes when referring to her relationship with Rapper/Producer Sean Combs aka Diddy. Check this out
“He was like, ‘I love you’. Right away. It was very fast, but we did have a connection. We did fall in love and we were very close. But my relationship with him was always something I knew would end.”
“It started out as something very pure and innocent. But it did get ugly – it did get sordid.”
Just in case folks don’t know what “sordid” mean here is Webster’s Definition:
1: marked by baseness or grossness : vile <sordid motives> 2 a: dirty, filthy b: wretched, squalid
If you missed this episode check it out here. Very interesting watch.
Grammy nominee Keyshia Cole is making her way back into the music spotlight by getting ready to release her 4th album with the help from R&B producer Donald ‘Toxic’ Alford the man behind her single “Trust” from her 3rd album “A Different Me”. Alford spoke withRap-Up about Keyshia new duet single with R&B singer Tank.
“We’re doing a lot of new records for her. We got a hot record coming with her and Tank in the future, so ya’ll can be on the lookout for that,”Fans of “Trust” will be pleased with the new offering. “I produced ‘Trust’ so it’s somewhere around there,” shared Toxic. “A slow ballad, duet type of record. I guess she comes to me for the duets.”When asked if it would be a potential single, he replied, “Probably so. It’s a hot record, so you never know, but at the end of the day, I think it’s a gem.” (SOURCE)
My Two Cents:Me personally I’m definitely looking forward to a new Keyshia Cole album. For some reason though I didn’t fall in love with “A Different Me” the way I did with her second album “Just Like You”. The singles for that album were just perfect. It will be interesting to see how much she has grown musically being a new mother an all.
Music Icon Janet Jackson hit the stage at the 2010 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans last night to perform some of her biggest hits. You can check out the performances here.
Ciara gives her fans a treat by moving up her 4th studio album “Basic Instinct” to a new release date of August 17th. It was previously set to be released August 24th same day as pop star Katy Perry and now she will go head to head with rapper T.I. who’s album “King Uncaged” is also set to be released the 17th. Check out Ciara’s new promo video for “Basic Instinct”
My Two Cents:It’ll be interesting so see how this date now pans out with her now sharing it with T.I. but we shall see. While I think “Ride” is an okay song I’m still waiting to see if her second single is gonna wow me to become really excited for her new album. That promo vid really did hype me up though.
