MESSYMYLES (FAT STACKS RETURNS)

High Altitude

It becomes an amazing accomplishment when we as people reach a positive high in our lives. The feeling of having everything situated and keeping the negativity at bay gives us the strength that we need on a day to day basis. Getting lost in a fog of stress only clouds our mind and doesn’t leave any room for us to make any progress. Without that progress how are we expected to move forward and reach that euphoric peak to where we are able to breath and know that everything will be okay?

We as people I feel do get cautious to travel to that peak of comfort because we fear the fall or the push that could happen at any time. We choose not to take these risks because they tend to be alarming. But sometimes we have to risk the fall and be able to maybe prepare for a crash landing. However just because we may take the comfortable approach does not mean we are doomed to land on our face. We can end up reaching that ultimate high and not only feel comfortable to stay on top but also to be given an even more positive initiative to possibly take off and reach a higher destination.

We have to learn to stop placing limits on ourselves and the heights that we dream to reach. Believing that the sky is the absolute limit just doesn’t seem to satisfy anymore. The cold feet that we may get sometimes keeps us from reaching a greater outcome and at times we miss out on numerous opportunities because of this handicap. Each new day allows us to make that decision to whether we want to take on a new change in our lives and reach a higher peak or do we choose to remain in a cloudy atmospheric environment that does nothing but put us in a funk of negativity. This positivity will only make us better people in the long run and reaching that high altitude can become our greatest achievement. In the end I’m just saying….

I tend to draw a lot of inspiration from the music that I listen to in order to help me with my writings. This entry was inspired by a song lifted from Alicia Key’s most recent album “The Element Of Freedom” called “How It Feels To Fly”. The message of this song really brought about a positive perspective that I took to heart. So for those who haven’t heard the song you can take a listen below.

Christina Aguilera “You Lost Me” Preview

VH1 shared an exclusive look of the behind the scene footage of Pop Diva Christina Aguilera’s new video “You Lost Me” which is the second single from her album “Bionic”. The video is being directed by the go to man of today’s music videos Anthony Mandler. Check out VH1 sneak peak

My Two Cents:You lost Me is already a great track and with Mandler directing it I have no doubt the video will be great too. Here’s hoping this is the fuel that will gets the “Bionic” fire burning again because it’s getting dimmer as the days go by…..

Lady Gaga Takes Over The Today Show

Pop Star Lady Gaga made her way to NYC to perform at the Today Show Summer Concert Series. Dressed in all that is Gaga she seemed to tone it down with her wardrobe today. Still weird but nothing crazy. Anyway check out her amazing performance of songs from her album “The Fame Monster” which include “Bad Romance”, “Alejandro”, “Teeth”, and her new song “You & I”

MessyMyles (ALICIAKEYS FALLS, LINDSAY LOHAN GOING TO JAIL, NEW MUSIC FROM CIARA!)

Ciara’s “Basic Instinct” Album Cover

My Two Cents: One word from me “HOT!!!”

Ciara Heats Up with “Gimme Dat”

Singer/Dancer Ciara is ready to serve up her second single with the fast paced Tricky Stewart & Soundz Produced track “Gimme Dat” off of her 4th studio album “Basic Instinct” due out August 17th. Check it out here

My Two Cents:This song is definitely the crazy dance track that Ms. Harris promised. I can really see it getting a lot of play in the clubs and urban radio. For me still a bit of a grower but I am amped about this new project and I really do want to hear more. With her single “Ride” cracking the top 10 of the R&B charts it will be interesting to see how this song fairs.

Billboard:Bionic Is The Best Mainstream Pop Album This Year

While the sales of Christina Aguilera’s latest album “Bionic” are on life support Billboard has name it the Best Mainstream Pop Album of The Year thus far. Billboard had this to say when writing their review for Bionic:

NEW YORK (Billboard) – We may have love affairs with all kinds of gimmicky divas, but it takes Christina Aguilera to remind us that singing really matters.

That’s not to say the pop star’s latest release, “Bionic,” is all about her voice, a muscular acrobat that’s become more elegant with age. Combine it with the inventive work of a diverse cast of producers and you’ve got the best mainstream pop album of the year thus far. Sure, “Bionic” was made for a post-Lady Gaga world, where the comparisons are inevitable and the sales stakes are high. But from the fidgety intro of the dub-tastic opening title track (produced by Santigold collaborators John Hill & Switch) to punk-brat driving song “My Girls” (produced by Le Tigre, with a guest rap from Peaches) to Aguilera’s gloriously restrained delivery on “All I Need” (Sia Furler co-produced the vocals), the 18-song set shows an artist confident enough to take direct cues from her tuned-in creative team. Because she’s bold enough to do it her way, Aguilera maintains her reign.

My Two Cents: I have to agree with Billboard on this. While the year is only halfway done Christina definitely served up a hot one with Bionic and from my review you can that I found it to be a really great piece of work. You can’t deny this woman’s talent as one of the most amazing voices in today’s music industry and it’s very noticeable on her recent live performances especially on her second single ballad “You Lost Me”. Again I think the setback came when that whole “Lady Gaga” comparison went into fruition.  Here’s hoping “You Lost Me” can be her “Beautiful” and save “Bionic” some face and give it it’s credit that it deserves.

Lindsay Lohan Gets 90 Days in Jail!!

Well not a bit of a shocker to me but it is the buzz around the entertainment world right now that fallen Actress and former Disney star Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail due to a violation of a drug charge back in 2007. She has now until July 20th to turn herself in to start her sentence. Once those 90 days are done she must complete another 90 days in a rehabilitation center. You can watch Lindsay’s plea and the judge’s sentencing after the jump

My Two Cents: Ok yeah I know some want to say it’s only 90 days big deal but I’m sure when you tell that to the people who actually have to do the 90 days it can feel like forever and I’m sure the same for the criminals who only do a few weeks. But I want to comment on how it’s so weird to see this all happening. I remember when I first saw Lindsey in the remake of the Disney film “The Parent Trap” and  from her first full feature film you could really tell that this was a girl who could really act. She had that spark  that separated her from a lot of other child actresses during that time and with the guiding hands of Disney she of course was becoming America’s sweetheart. As Lindsey began into her later teen years it all went downhill from there. She broke off with Disney (as Disney tends to do when their stars reach 18) and started doing more grown up films such as the popular film “Mean Girls“. But soon after that came the drugs, the partying, the DUI’s, the greedy parents, & leeching friends. Fame consumed Lindsey and she of course herself took it for granted and now we have the end result….a jail sentence. I feel this is needed for her. Tough love is sometimes the best love and maybe once she spends a bit of time behind some  prison bars maybe she can come back and take control of her career and become the true actress that she is meant to be. I would really hate to see a talent like that go to waste. Good luck Miss Lohan.

Prince:The Internet Is Over!

Iconic singer Prince spoke to a European newspaper on how he feels about the internet was he was pretty blunt about it. Check out what the “Purple Rain” singer had to say:

“The Internet is completely over,” Prince told the Daily Mirror. “I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.”

He also had this to say when comparing the internet to music channel MTV

The Internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated.”

My Two Cents:Prince is never one to shy away from telling how he feels and he has spoken. Why I myself don’t think the internet is going anywhere anytime soon that statement about MTV has become somewhat true. Looking through MTV’s television lineup we see nothing but reality show after reality show and no music programs what so ever. MTV cancelled their popular music video countdown TRL back in 2008 and since then nothing has come along to take it’s place. With endless access to artist and their music  through the internet from websites such as Youtube and Vevo maybe MTV got the hint they really aren’t needed anymore. What do you think?
